Consulting

As a consultant, I possess extensive experience in capacity-building projects and programs. Services include:

Research and Landscape Analyses

“Be daring, be different. Be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the creatures of the commonplace.” – Cecil Beaton

Through a scan of existing approaches and deep dive into case studies, these services provide clients with a deeper understanding of their market, sector trends, consumer preferences, and future opportunities. Clients gain valuable insights that inform strategic decision-making, identify opportunities for growth, and mitigate potential risks.

Human-Centered Program Design

“I am because we are, and because we are, you are. My humanity is tied to yours.” -Zulu proverb, Ubuntu philosophy

Clients benefit from tailored programs and approaches that align with their goals, values, and target audience. Programs are built with empathy for the end user, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and relevance in the design, and enhanced outcomes and impact in the delivery.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

“We are not what we know but what we are willing to learn.” – Mary Catherine Bateson

Using qualitative approaches (interviews, focus groups, etc.) and quantitative methods (surveys, assessments, etc.), clients can track progress, measure effectiveness, and assess the impact of their programs and initiatives. Monitoring and evaluation provides valuable data and feedback for continuous improvement, strategic adjustments, and demonstrating accountability to stakeholders.

Curriculum Development

“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.” – Chinese Proverb

Curated for each group, clients receive well-structured and comprehensive learning materials that meet the specific needs of their target audience. Curriculum is designed for inclusivity of diverse learning styles, ensuring active participation, knowledge transfer, and skill development.

Stakeholder Engagement

“No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it.” – H.E. Luccock

As a natural connector, I thrive on connecting individuals to other people, groups, and opportunities. Services include stakeholder mapping, strategy setting, and facilitating partnership-building activities between donors, practitioners, program participants, and alumni. Benefits include increased collaboration, engagement, motivation, impact, and organizational sustainability.

2023 Impact Fellowships Summit

The Impact Fellowships Summit is an annual international convening of leaders and managers of fellowship programs that support leaders driving positive change in communities! On day one of the summit, I spoke on a panel about alumni engagement motivations, strategies, challenges, and best practices.

This was part of a larger presentation of the results of the Fellowships Alumni Network Study (FANS), a collaborative research initiative funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and implemented by IREX, that I contributed to in 2022-2023 on behalf of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area. The final report explores how alumni contribute to social change and how networks and alumni programming foster alumni impact, community building activities, and networking.

2022 Social Impact Career Popup

In June 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel entitled, “Fellowships and Social Impact Careers” where I shared strategies for pursuing fellowship opportunities as well as tips for individuals who want to work in the fellowship industry.

This was part of a larger Social Impact Career Popup event organized by PCDN, which brought together innovators, organizations working at the forefront of impact careers, and hundreds of professionals and students striving to combine purpose and their career.

2020 75th Anniversary of the United Nations

In October 2020, the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA) celebrated the 75th anniversary of the United Nations through a virtual event entitled UN at 75: Past. Present. Progress. Building The Future We Want. The event featured remarks by The Honorable Barbara Lee, Congresswoman for the 13th District of California and  provided participants with the unique opportunity to engage in UN75 Consultation Report Breakout Sessions on the following topics: Global Health, Peace & Security, Gender Equity, Human Rights, Sustainable Development, and International Law.

As a Board Member of UNA-NCA, I facilitated the breakout conversation on gender equity, with a particular focus on the intersection of gender with climate change. Feedback was collated and submitted to the United Nations as a consultation report for the campaign, UN75: The Future We Want, The UN We Need.

2017 Forum on the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)

Organized by the Annapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., I spoke at a forum alongside U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (MD) on the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). CEDAW is an international treaty that aims to achieve gender equality by addressing discrimination against women and promoting their rights across various spheres of life. Remarks provided case study examples and recommendations for application of the international treaty to local communities through the Cities for CEDAW initiative.

2017 Panel on the United Nations' 61st Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)

A diverse group of five panelists gathered around a table in a meeting room, engaged in a thought provoking discussion.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) meets each year at the United Nations for two weeks in March. During the convening, government representatives meet to share their countries’ progress towards gender equality, and thousands of NGO leaders from all over the world meet simultaneously to share programs, projects, and successes related to the empowerment of women and girls.

As a national delegate to CSW61, I attended both weeks of programming around the theme of “Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Changing World of Work.” Following CSW, I spoke on a panel at the Alliance forPeacebuilding alongside other women’s rights advocates to share our highlights and key learnings from the wide range of sessions held at the UN.
